Stop Borrowing Other Men's Lives

Romans 12:2 · World English Bible

The feed is a discipleship program. It catechizes you in other men's highlights and calls it staying informed. You come away vaguely behind, even on a good day. Paul says do not be conformed to this world, and the world's current liturgy is comparison at scale.

Transformation starts in the mind you keep lending out. Renewing it is not a weekend retreat. It is the slow work of refusing the shape the age is pressing onto you: more, faster, shinier, public. The will of God is not found by scanning what everyone else seems to be becoming.

You cannot think clearly about your calling while you are wearing someone else's life. Put the borrowed story down. Find out what is good and well-pleasing in the actual room you are standing in.

Today’s Challenge

Take a twenty-four-hour fast from the feed. When you reach for it, read today's verse instead.

Pray

Lord, I have been conforming without noticing. Renew my mind. Free me from other men's highlight reels and teach me Your will in the life I actually have. Amen.

Quiet workbench in pale morning window light — Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
