Wakefulness Is Not Loyalty

You have been awake long enough to know the cracks in the ceiling. The phone is on the floor where you put it so you would not check it, and you have already checked it twice. Monday's shift might get cut. The brake job you quoted sits in your head with the parts you cannot afford to front. Your brother's message is still unopened. The radiator ticks. You tell yourself a man who cares stays up with the problem until it gives.

That psalm was written for a world coming apart, not for a quiet afternoon. Kingdoms totter in it. The Lord does not hand you a longer list. He stops the noise and names Himself. You have been treating wakefulness like loyalty, as if the morning depends on you rehearsing every unpaid thing. It does not. He is God over nations and over the block where your truck is parked. The loop feels like love. It is you trying to do His job until the alarm.

The cost is simple and it will feel like neglect. You stop the rehearsal. You leave the shift, the parts, and your brother's message where they are, and you do not pick them up again tonight. The Father is not asleep, and He is not waiting on your math. Mercy looks like a man who quits a job he was never given. Yahweh holds the earth. You can hold still.
