Today’s Truth

Follow the Treasure

Matthew 6:21 · World English Bible

You do not have to ask a man what he loves. Watch the calendar and the account. Jesus is almost clinical: where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Not the other way around. You think you can love God and stash your real treasure somewhere else. Your heart will follow the stash.

This is not an argument against saving or building. It is a diagnostic. If the raise is how you know you are okay, the raise is your god. If generosity always waits until later, later is the religion.

Move a piece of treasure toward the kingdom today, a gift, a debt payment, a refusal to buy the thing that was going to soothe you. Hearts are trained by where the money goes.

Today’s Challenge

Give a specific amount today, even a small one, to a person or work that has nothing to do with your image.

Pray

Jesus, my heart has been following the wrong pile. Teach me to stash treasure where You are, and to let my heart catch up. Amen.
