Godly Truths

One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.

Today’s Truth

Rule Your Spirit

Proverbs 16:32 · World English Bible

Taking a city is the kind of strength the world still claps for: force, speed, a win you can point at. Proverbs is unimpressed. The better man is the one who is slow to anger and rules his own spirit. That is a quieter victory, and a rarer one.

You can dominate a room and still be a child in your chest. Unruled spirit leaks out as sarcasm, as the slammed cabinet, as the need to have the last word. People around you have already learned to brace. That is not leadership. That is weather.

Self-control is not repression. It is the ability to feel the heat and still choose the next right word. If you want to be trusted with more, start with the city inside your ribs.

Today’s Challenge

When anger rises today, name it out loud ('I am angry'), then take a ten-minute walk before you speak to the person involved.

Pray

God, I have wanted to take rooms more than I have wanted to rule my spirit. Make me slow to anger. Make me a safe man. Amen.
